Welcome to the first county-wide read event brought to you by the Brown County Library and the Brown County Literacy Coalition. Brown County Reads is intended to bring the community together in conversation over a common book. The 2013 selected book is Home to Harmony by Philip Gulley.
Copies of the book can be checked-out from the library and many non-library copies are circulating through the Literacy Coalition’s volunteers. We would like to thank the Indiana Humanities for providing the library with many copies to support our county-wide read. Copies of Home to Harmony are also available to purchase at the Book Loft.
We encourage you to read Home to Harmony with friends, family, and neighbors. Form a book club and discuss the book. We have discussion guides and evaluations available for your club available online, at the library and in the Literacy Coalition office. If you have a group discussion whether it be with two friends or twenty, please consider using our evaluation form to help us track statistics.
Brown County Reads officially begins on January 21st and runs through March 18th. We will host an evening with the author on Friday, February 22nd at 7pm in the meeting rooms of the library. This event will be free of charge and is open to everyone.
“PHILIP GULLEY is a Quaker pastor from Indiana with a charming sense of small-town life – and a shrewd sense of life in general…A self-deprecating narrator…he knows how to exaggerate in a witty way.” – THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
