Hidden INSPIRE-ation

The Indiana online library, INSPIRE, gives any Indiana resident access to a wealth of information from magazine and newspaper articles to the Gale Testing and Education Reference Center. Hidden behind the link to Other Databases is the Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center, a database bursting at the seams with full text arts and crafts magazines, full text books, and videos. You can browse by category: Arts & Crafts, Collecting, Home & Garden, Indoor Recreation, Kids Crafts, Model Building, Needlecrafts & Textiles, Outdoor Recreation, Performing Arts, Science & Technology,  and Scrapbooking & Paper Crafts. You can also search by Publication (I did a search for Spin-Off magazine, and they have several years of full text issues!). If you’re searching for information on anything from juggling to fly tying to model rockets to spinning, you will find it. It is fun to browse and easy to search for specifics, and you can print, e-mail and save any of the articles you find. Hidden in the Other Databases with the Hobbies & Crafts you’ll also find the Home Improvement Reference Center and the Health & Wellness Resource Center, both useful databases. To access INSPIRE and all its databases from home you will have to create an account from the INSPIRE home page. You can access INSPIRE directly from the library using our computers or your own.  So next time you are in need of crafting inspiration, take a look at INSPIRE and the Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center.
