Art of the Library – Promise

Located in the children’s area is a beautiful painting of an angel entitled “Promise”. The artist, L.O. Griffith (known as Griff to his friends), lived and worked in Brown Co. from 1922 to his death in 1956. During that time he was active in the Brown Co. Art Gallery and Guild and his wife served on the Library Board of Trustees. A landscape painter and etcher, he was best known for the subtle tonalities of his aquatints. He studied art in the U.S., England and Paris and was the recipient of numerous awards for his work.
The next time you come to the library please take time to locate and admire this beautiful piece of art known as Promise.
