There is a variety of magazines in the children’s section of the library, but there are two that are standouts: Kiki and Muse.
Kiki is a great magazine for girls. If you are interested in fashion you will find designer profiles, style updates, and how-to’s. The fashion features use regular girls as models. Each issue has a theme, often about travel or art. There are craft instructions, articles on health and fitness, book reviews, overviews of careers… It is a fun read and a great magazine to browse, you’ll always find something interesting.
If science and history are more your thing, you should check out Muse magazine. A bit like a kids’ version of Smithsonian, it is stuffed full of cool articles about the way things were and the way things work. Stories range from the history of Hershey, Pennsylvania to particle accelerators, the perils of plastic in the oceans, and the “lost continent” of Lemuria. Everything is interesting, informative, and above all an entertaining read.
Both of these magazines can be found on the rack in the children’s section of the library. Take a look!
